FREE MARKET: That condition of society in which all economic transactions result from voluntary choice without coercion.

THE STATE: That institution which interferes with the Free Market through the direct exercise of coercion or the granting of privileges (backed by coercion).

TAX: That form of coercion or interference with the Free Market in which the State collects tribute (the tax), allowing it to hire armed forces to practice coercion in defense of privilege, and also to engage in such wars, adventures, experiments, “reforms,” etc., as it pleases, not at its own cost, but at the cost of “its” subjects.

PRIVILEGE: From the Latin privi, private, and lege, law. An advantage granted by the State and protected by its powers of coercion. A law for private benefit.

USURY: That form of privilege or interference with the Free Market in which one State-supported group monopolizes the coinage and thereby takes tribute (interest), direct or indirect, on all or most economic transactions.

LANDLORDISM: That form of privilege or interference with the Free Market in which one State-supported group “owns” the land and takes tribute (rent) from those who live, work, or produce on the land.

TARIFF: That form of coercion or interference with the Free Market in which commodities produced outside the State are not allowed to compete equally with those produced inside the State.

CAPITALISM: That organization of society, incorporating elements of tax, usury, landlordism, and tariff, which thus denies the Free Market while pretending to exemplify it.

CONSERVATISM: That school of capitalist philosophy which claims allegiance to the Free Market while actually supporting usury, landlordism, tariff, and sometimes taxation.

LIBERALISM: That school of capitalist philosophy which attempts to correct the injustices of capitalism by adding new laws to the existing laws. Each time conservatives pass a law creating privilege, liberals pass another law modifying privilege, leading conservatives to pass a more subtle law recreating privilege, etc., until “everything not forbidden is compulsory” and “everything not compulsory is forbidden.”

SOCIALISM: The attempted abolition of all privilege by restoring power entirely to the coercive agent behind privilege, the State, thereby converting capitalist oligarchy into Statist monopoly. Whitewashing a wall by painting it black.

ANARCHISM: That organization of society in which the Free Market operates freely, without taxes, usury, landlordism, tariffs, or other forms of coercion or privilege. RIGHT ANARCHISTS predict that in the Free Market people would voluntarily choose to compete more often than to cooperate. H1N1 vaccine

Since I work in a residential setting providing psychotherapy services to those in the "at risk" category, my company is offering both the "regular" flu vaccine as well as the H1N1 vaccine. I've read supporting evidence on both sides of the vaccine debate and am currently non-commital although I lean towards getting both vaccinations (they are free for state contracted agency employees).

Who here plans on getting the new flu shot? Anybody convinced about the "dangers" of such vaccinations?

this reminded me of the religious group in Cosmic Trigger III that had 23 suicides in canada and europe somewhere (forgive my lack of specifics; been ages since I read it!)

Temporary insanity as a means of activating higher neurological functioning?

I kind of went insane for a while, I'll spare you all of the details, but it was perhaps as terrifying as what a bad LSD trip must be like. I was actually "batshit" crazy, really paranoid, impulsive, and nutty. My behavior is normally eccentric but that one week I went off the deep end. The good news is: I am fine now. My friends and family helped me get out, and better yet, move on.

Anyway, after getting sent to an ER after running away from therapy, getting tranquilizing shots on my butt, and staying at a mental hospital for about 8 days, I wonder if that experience kind of led to a re-writing of my brain's software. I was deprived of "mother and father" figures, stuck in a totally new environment, and I remember leaving the hospital, on a beautiful sunny day, opened up more doors inside than LSD or mescaline ever did. Now I feel extremely spiritual and that I've been given a second chance. I've also been having a lot more motivation/ambition lately, too, which is always nice.

I remember RAW spoke of many holy people/spiritual gurus/mystics going through similar experiences of "darkness" before entering periods of "lightness." I'm curious if anybody here went through something similar or have any words of wisdom to give me. RAWs books helped me a lot, especially Prometheus Rising, but I feel like I was almost "supposed" to go insane just because it helped me discover my place in the world and give me an entirely new perspective.

Is Orgone Energy Real

Orgone energy is a form of aether.Aether was mentioned in articles by Scientific American. I first discovered that orgone devices were being built by christains to be used against Satin's army. I then discovered that orgone was a form of aether by finding the relationship on line. I looked at the basic design and said lets see what I can do with this. I looked into a book - Einstien does not work here anymore by Marice Cooke, that gave the plans for building an aether device. From there I built a high pressure inert gas beam generater, and put a large doubleterminating polished quartz crystal into the end of it. Once pressurized with Argon gas, I put 30,000 volts threw it, and it worked just fine. I started building a pulse generator using the frequecies of the human brain ( between 0 and 20 hertz), but did not have any luck yet. If these christians are right then conspiracies like Chemtrails could be true. Dont forget that RAW said that the Illuminati could be extra-terrestrials or a higher power that would inslave the human race. In chapter 12 of Revalations promises that satin's army was coming here to eath. Maybe after taking on phyisical forms of aliens (there own master race).

Does Higher Intellegence exist ?

Sure it does!
I would like to take some time to tell everyone, who uses and reads from this web site that you have already gained my respect. Anyone who belongs to a web site of RAW fans, already make up, some of the most intellegent people alive. I once talked to a person working in a large book, ( I think Barns and Noble), who was convinced that Wilson's books were more then science fiction.
Some of Wilson's work included, finding higher intellegence within, using psychedelic drugs. Unfortunately, the government stopped legal research with drugs like LSD. One group - MAPS - went back to document the first, mentioned time of psychic effects, during a legal LSD experiment. John Lilley was a legal researcher, and any one who read his books gained from his insite. The same with Leary, who tried to explain how the central nervous system worked.
Wilson tried to expain, that the more intellegent a person is, the quicker a problem can be solved. The strange thing is, that psychic ability, is also a form of higher intellegence such as telepathy. Something strange happens when a person goes through a near death experience. I guess, in an attempt to fight for survival, the brain rewires itself, activating higher circutry. I belive that these people make up whats known as the Illuminati. This is where they gain there supernatural abilities.This can also be done, short term, through the use of psychedelics.

R.A.W. and the Illuminati Ciphers

Ever wondered why RAW and Shea chose the name "Illuminatus!" for this Trilogy? :)

First of all, you should REALLY read this book. And now, if you open the book on Appendix Beth (about the Illuminati ciphers, codes & calendar), and use the given gematrical key according to which A=12, B=11, etc, in order to "decode" some words by adding the values of its letters, you'll have a revelation:

ILLUMINATUS = 4+2+2+20+1+4+13+12+19+20+18 = 115
And why is 115 so interesting? Well... it's 5 x 23 :)

And what about "Illuminati"?

ILLUMINATI = 4+2+2+20+1+4+13+12+19+4 = 81
Curiously enough, 81 is also the value of the words "Phoenix", "Pyramid", and "Triangle". You can check it yourself!

Illuminatus! Script

I know Prometheus Rising was basically a modified version of RAW's dissertation. I've always been curious to read the original. Does anyone know if this is publicly available anywhere?

The lecture is available both as an MP3 file -- for those with slow connections note that it is just shy of 27 MB -- and, for those who prefer to get their information Gutenberg-style, as a PDF transcript.

The first three minutes, during which he talks about trying to figure out the name of the city in which he lives, is classic Bob: a hilarious story in its own right yet one that simultaneously makes a deeper point. Even if you already "have too much to listen to" or you've heard it all before from Mr. Wilson, at least treat yourself to those few minutes, although it's all well worth listening to IMHO. I mean, don't you want to learn about "self-hypnotic ideational trance"?

Beethoven

We all know that Bob liked Beethoven more than Mozart (which seems to demonstrate his good taste in music).

So, any other's feel the same? Listening to music (as in: sitting in a chair and really listening as opposed to passively hearing music as a distraction) brings great joy to my life. What are your favorite Beethoven recordings?

A few of mine are:
-Symphony #9 (the 1942 recording conducted by Furtwangler and remastered in 1999 by Maggi Payne; Music & Arts CD 4653)
-Symphony #6 (the Harnoncourt recording on Teldec)
-Symphony #5 and #7 (obviously the Kleiber on DG, is there any other choice?)
-Archduke and Ghost Trios (performed on period instruments by Immerseed, Beths, and Bylsma: Sony SK 51353)
-Sonatas (Walstein, Les Adieux, and Appassionata by Emil Gilels; DG 419 162-2)
-Piano Concertos 1-5 (Pierre-Laurent Aimard and Nikolaus Harnoncourt; Teldec 0927 47334-2)
-Of course I'd have to add: the Cantata on the Death of Emperor Joseph II (the one comissioned by members of the Bavarian Illuminata when Beethoven was only 19 years of age; my favorite is the Hyperion release conducted by Matthew Best; CDA66880).
-The newest recording of the 5th piano concerto by Helene Grimaud coupled with sonata 28 on DG sounds incredible to my ears!

I'm sure some of you have favorites as well. I don't know why, but for some reason (not based on any evidence) I picture Bob listening to the Karajan recordings.

Robert Anton Wilson once said in his book:
Quantum Psychology (pages 140-141)

. . . According to Brain/Mind Bulletin (May 1988) John Barefoot
of Duke University has found a negative correlation
between suspiciousness and longevity. In a sample of 500
older men and women whose health he monitored for 15
years, Barefoot discovered that:

(a) those who scored high on suspiciousness, cynicism
and hostility died sooner than all others;
(b) this high mortality among those with Loser Scripts
remained constant when compared by age, by sex, by
previous health, by diet and even by "bad habits." (Those
who smoked and remained generally optimistic lived
longer than those who smoked and worried about it.)
(c) those who scored highest on hostility had a death rate
more than six times higher than others.

. . . In a related study (Brain/Mind Bulletin August 1988)
Shelley Taylor of UCLA and Jonathan Brown of SMU
refuted the conventional idea that those who score high on
"mental health" have fewer illusions than others.

. . . Quite the reverse, according to this study: those who
score high on "mental health" generally have a number of
illusory beliefs. Among the most common illusions of the
mentally healthy:

(a) overly positive views of themselves;
(b) convenient "forgetting" of negative facts about
themselves;
(c) illusory beliefs about having more control than they
do have;
(d) "unrealistic" optimism about themselves;
(e) "unrealistic" optimism about the future in general;
(f) "abnormal" cheerfulness.

. . . Would you want to have those kinds of "illusions" or
would you rather stick to "hard realism" and die sooner
than those deluded fools?

The Crowley-Korzybski connection

I just read the following from Crowley's "Magick Without Tears":

"When we wish to exchange thoughts, we must arrange a conventional code of sounds, of knots in string, or carved or written characters-- in a word -- embark upon the boundless ocean of heiroglyphics or symbols of one sort or another (Presently I shall have to explain the supreme importance of such systems, in fact, the Universe is not, and cannot be, but an arrrangement of symbolic characters!)."

Now, we see that Crowley used of the "is" of identity in stating that "the Universe is not" in a negative manner; he "reversed" the "is" of identify. This koan-like utterance of his seems to preclude Korzbyski's "consciousness of abstracting. As I then looked upon the Tree of Life diagram, it seemed that the paths up from Malkuth to Kether could be seen as the process of becoming conscious of abstracting. Anyway, what came upon me was the possible importance of RITUAL in our lives (I don't presently practice any religious rituals). If we agree that Universe reveals itself through symbol systems (including our nervous system's attempts at evaluating the internal and external environenments that we experience) then perhaps the use of conscious ritual could be of benefit in gaining understanding of Universe. Just a thought.

I feel that Korzbski related the truths of the Buddha in way that most Westerners could realize as I relate "awakening" to being "conscious of abstracting". Anybody else here make a connection between Korzybski and the Tree of Life? I'm open to any and all criticism to the Crowley-Korzybski connection.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre

RAW fan needs help in Seattle.

Hello. I'd like to make this as brief as possible, but I don't know how brief I can make it.

I'm 28 years old, and I've been married for five months to the woman of my dreams, who out of nowhere, kicked me out and filed for divorce. Her reasons for divorce seem absurd to me. Especially since she's divorcing me after 5 months. Her lawyer even said, "I've known this family for years, and Les, she wasn't ready. She wanted to be ready, but she wasn't." That seems more clear than any other explanation I can give, other than to say that I never cheated on her, never called her a bad name, never stole from her, never yelled at her, and so on. In fact, she didn't like me smoking, so I quit smoking. She didn't like it if I drank beer, so I stopped drinking beer. I did everything she asked me to do. I will add that she lived with her extremely strict parents her whole life, (23 years,) and lived a totally different reality than me, until she moved out when we got married.

Anyway, I gave her everything I had, all my money, all my attention, etc. The bills and rent I helped pay for, I can no longer use. She has effectively rendered me homeless. So, a friend of mine in Seattle said that I could just fly up and stay with her, and so I started selling what belongings I had left, and got a plane ticket to Seattle for Christmas Eve. But evidently, she found some reason to stop talking to me out of nowhere, whether it was her ex, or her friends, or something.

So, here I sit, in Seattle, lucky enough to have found a good samaritan to give me a place to stay for a week or so, but after that, I'm on my own. I got two jobs that both start after new years.

Does anyone out there in Seattle have a couch I can crash on for a month while I pick back up my life? I can provide you any reference you need to show that I am not a criminal or a con. I just don't want to be homeless. Also, since you like Robert Anton Wilson, and I like Robert Anton Wilson, I suspect there might be some pretty good conversations.

general semantics

i'm not sure how many people have read 'science and sanity' by korzybski, even with the amount of times raw has reccomended it. but if anyone has embarked on a study of it, or is about to, i reccomend the site i have placed below as a good starting point to understand the basics of general semantics. it has reccomendations for further reading, seemingly objective essays on the parts of it that are relevant and those that have become irrelevent.

Ralph Kenyon seems to have a real understanding of the intent of General Semantics, and how it should be constantly applied to itself so as not to become a dogma - through stagnation. he also seems to understand a lot of other sciences that are important for the study of general semantics.

I came across a passage by Wilhelm Reich that resonates true today, as it did in 1953 when he wrote it, as it did 2000 years ago from which he referenced it. The passage is from the book “The Murder of Christ”, and is as follows:

“This is the way it has been and has remained to this very day and will go on being for quite some time. They will not cease to kill this way until they have been rendered powerless to kill the soul in every human fruit already in the womb before it saw the light of day.

They will kill Jesus Christ for a crime they themselves imputed, they themselves invented, they themselves committed a thousand times; a crime Christ never dreamed of, never was close to, never possibly could have concocted.” (Wilhelm Reich: The Murder of Christ, p.87, The Noonday Press, New York, sixth printing, 1971)

Countless scholars throughout history have shared this message. The message is simple: The ruling class have persecuted and crucified all who have dared to challenge their power. The oligarchy have been able to do this by manipulating the masses through fear, misinformation, and by placing slaves in positions of power to do their bidding.

Bill Hicks paraphrased this passage during his performances with his “it’s just a ride” routine. He, like Reich, prophesized his persecution. Both men were wise enough to see the folly of our choices as a society and both knew themselves well enough to choose freedom rather then conformity.

Both these men highlighted the fact that we have been blinded by our apathy and have forfeited our freedoms by accepting our bondage of ignorance. Their words refer to those that we have sacrificed, and to those that we continue to sacrifice, to maintain the status quo, even though it paves the way for our destruction. From innocent women burned at the stake, to the assassination of those of us who have been brave enough to speak a truth that is plainly visible to all, but hidden from our conscience.

The most recent victim of our collective is one, Marc Emery. Like Reich, the ruling class has branded Emery as one of its greatest adversaries. The reason that Mr. Emery is considered to be such a danger to the Empire is because he is, just like Reich was. The philosophy of both these men threatens the status quo, hence the witch-hunt. Reich’s words in the above passage can easily be re-written as follows:

“They will kill Marc Emery for a crime they themselves imputed, they themselves invented, they themselves committed a thousand times; a crime Emery never dreamed of, never was close to, never possibly could have concocted”

If collectively we, as a society, begin to realize that our attempts are futile in waging a war on nature, then the elite would no longer control us. We would be free. The ultimate question is, are we ready to govern our lives as if we were children of God the way Christ would want us to do, or are we about to crucify another innocent?

New Tribe for those interested in current sciences and Thelema

I have just started a new tribe specifically for discussions of advances in the sciences of biology, physics, chemistry, neurology, psychology, etc. since the time of Crowleys writings....and how they apply to, challenge, enhance, or change the metaphors and models of Thelema.
we know so much more now that can be applied to "Scientific Illuminism" . This is a place to discuss this evolving world-view completely outside of the context of lineages, groups, orders or related historical disputes.
My ulterior motive for starting this tribe is that i want to update my own limited understanding of these fields of knowledge, and benefit from the brilliant and studied minds that pass through these spheres.

The latest crop circle hub bub

Over at Reality Sandwich, there is a fair bit of discussion going on regarding the most recent crop circle, which is said to be the Mayan symbol for "6"

According to Pinchbeck's comment on the post, *something* should happen today on 8/18 and makes a comparison to a past crop circle that a had date spelled out in planetary orbits. Other comments range from some variety of believer to agnostic.

What do you think?

Will something significant happen? Is this all just New Age hysteria? If some event does coincide with the current interpretation of the crop circle, does that mean the two are linked in some manner? Would it be an arbitrary neurological grid? A synchronicity? Just damned weird?

If nothing significant occurs, does that mean that the author of the above article is delusional? or did he just misinterpret data and construct a model that didn't work? Or is the artist behind the circles (who or whatever it is) just stirring the pot with the latest creation to see what interpretations people come up with? (sounds like a Discordian conspiracy to me ^_^)

RAW Drug

Didn't know where else to ask this question since this seems to be the only place where RAW fans have congregated in some numbers.

I was wondering if any of you know the name of the psychotherapeutic drug that RAW mentioned in the 27th minute of his lecture "Perennial questions and Current Answers" available from soundphotosynthesis. It sounds something like Atem or Atom, but I can find no information on it.

I finished the book in January, and although I have meant to, I have stalled in getting another RAW book to read....
